Biden, 79, is the oldest President of the United States and is set to celebrate his 80th birthday next month. Despite much of the mocking of the President, he has said that he is confident that he will run again in 2024 for the next election.
However, the President did acknowledge that the public are correct to consider his age and state of health ahead of voting for him for another term.
Speaking with MSNBC on Sunday, he admitted that he could “drop dead tomorrow” and that voters are in the right to bring it up as an issue of note.
Despite his confidence in his abilities to run again, he said that voters doubts are “totally legitimate”.
As images emerged earlier this year of the President using a ‘cheat sheet’ at public events, and reports of Biden appearing frail, confused, and forgetful, his ability to lead the United States for the current term is always up for debate.
Only last week, the President was seen reportedly struggling to leave a stage after he gave a speech in Pennsylvania which also appeared to happen on stage at the UN last month.
Following the speech he spun around, seemingly looking for the way off, before pointing towards the stairs and making his way toward them.
The opposition are keen to regularly note Biden’s apparent gaffes and frailty in their criticism of the President.
However, with Biden insisting on Sunday that it was “my intention to run again”, it is likely he would face former rival Republican Donald Trump, 76, who would be 78 years old by the time of the election.

Despite this, the issues facing the United States such as soaring inflation and the ever-increasing cost of living crisis, the President’s approval rating has plummeted to approximately 40 percent.
The return of a Biden-Trump election would see voters forced to vote for men reaching or just past 80 years old.
The Democrats have given this much thought as candidates appear reluctant to align themselves with the President while some have openly campaigned for a “generational change” in the party leadership ahead of 2024.
