ARSENAL could miss out on Champions League football next season – even if they come fourth in the Premier League.
The Gunners are involved in a gripping battle against Man United, Chelsea and Tottenham for a top-four spot.
UEFA’s regulations only allow five clubs from England to play in the Champions League in a single season.
And if a team wins the Europa League or Champions League this season they will secure automatic qualification.
As things stand, Spurs could lift the trophy this year after they booked their spot in the quarter-finals with a win over Dortmund.
And Chelsea are in still contention to win the Europa League having eased past Dynamo Kiev.
If Spurs or Chelsea win the silverware and United finish third – Arsenal will not be selected to play in the Champions Leauge.
But the Gunners are still in the Europa League and will face Rennes in the last-16 at Roazhan Park tomorrow.
Emery established himself as a specialist in the competition after he lifted the trophy three times in a row with Sevilla.
If none of the English teams triumph in Europe, the Champions League spots will be decided by the Premier League table.
