In 2021, palace officials released a statement finalising their separation, stating they would “not be returning as working members of the Royal Family”.
The statement added that the late Queen had spoken with then 36-year-old Prince Harry before making the decision.
The Queen made it clear that “in stepping away from the work of the Royal Family, it is not possible to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service”.
But the pair, who have two young children in Archie Harrison, 3, and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, remain “much loved members of the family”.
