Nadiya revealed she and Abdal, who married in 2005, have always discussed adopting a child to expand their brood.

She said: ‘We’re always really open to adoption…there’s space for it in our heart and our home…..we talk about it all the time’

‘Once we’re emotionally in the right place, I think we will do it. We have so much love to give, it’s something we always think about.’

During the podcast, Nadiya also discussed her struggles with anxiety, explaining she’s always wanted to show that she could be successful while dealing with the day-to-day battles with mental health.

She explained: ‘I thought for a long time about how much I wanted to talk about my anxiety….I was riddled with it since the age of 7…and have learnt to live with it’

‘I genuinely believe you can be really successful and motivated and be fragile and have mental health issues at the same time’

‘I was losing days and weeks with the children…because I couldn’t get out of bed. The kids just thought I was tired, I’d spent a lot of years lying to my children, but there’s strength in telling the truth.’

It comes after Nadiya explained why she shared her horrifying experience of being sexually assaulted by a family member as a child.

The chef, who first told of the traumatic event in her memoir Finding My Voice, insisted she wants to raise awareness about the ‘big problem’ within her community.

Nadiya confessed she didn’t realise what had happened to her until she had a sex education class at school, and threw up after the discovery.

The TV star said: ‘I realised this was much more than just my book. It wasn’t just about my voice, it was about the people who read the book.

‘And I know growing up I didn’t necessarily pick up a book where I looked at the face of the author and thought: I can relate to her face or the way she dresses or her name.

‘As a lover of books it makes me so sad that as a child I never pick up one book I could relate to, so I asked myself: who am I writing this book for? The sexual abuse, I still struggle even now to talk about.’

Luton-born Nadiya went on to detail how the memory still affects her three decades on.

The next episode of Netmums’ Sweat, Snot & Tears, featuring Nadiya Hussain, will be released on Tuesday, 20th October.
