Political expert Dr Niall McCrae from the think tank Bruges Group revealed multiple hurdles Nicola Sturgeon would have to overcome to have an independent Scotland rejoin the EU. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Dr McCrae noted that he has heard little from Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP on rejoining the EU of late but insisted there would be many problems that would come with this dream. He claimed Scotland would have to adopt the Euro, plans for an EU army and a budget controlled by Brussels.
Dr McCrae said: “I don’t hear so much from Nicola Sturgeon or the SNP about the EU these days.
“If you ask them they would say, yes we want to become a member of the EU again but they don’t really talk about it so much.
“People have moved on, there was a clear majority in Scotland for remaining in the EU but people have seen that their world hasn’t fallen apart.
“People know that they rely on very strong relationships with England and the rest of the UK for trade.”

Dr McCrae went on to say how an independent Scotland would struggle to appease the EU if it wanted to rejoin.
He highlighted some of the key issues that would plague an independent Scotland if it wanted to join the EU.
“The Scottish Europhile lobby thinks that the EU would welcome them with open arms by the EU.
“I think that is a bit naive.
Dr McCrae closed by insisting Scotland was better off as a part of the UK and outside of the EU.
He said: “For all aspects of life, Scotland is allowed to function, in some ways, as a separate entity.
“But there is very much a relationship where Scotland benefits from being part of the United Kingdom.
“The UK is a long-standing success, it is a success for the Scots as much as it is for the English.
