Elvis movie sneak peek offers an early glimpse at Austin Butler as Elvis Presley in director Baz Luhrmann’s new biopic
Director Baz Luhrmann has unveiled a first look at his highly-anticipated (and currently untitled) Elvis Presley biopic on Monday.
The 59-year-old Australian filmmaker took to Twitter to unveil the brief sneak peek, which offers the first, brief glimpse of Austin Butler as the King of Rock and Roll.
While the sneak peek doesn’t offer a look at Butler’s face, the actor is seen sporting some of Elvis’ iconic looks throughout the years.

‘Elvis Monday. Made a little something to let you good people know we are taking care of business on June 24, 2022,’ Luhrmann said with the hashtags #Elvis #TCB.
The video begins with a shot of Elvis standing alone in the midst of what looks like a carnival, as a man behind him approaches in a cowboy hat, which may very well be Tom Hanks’ character, Elvis’ longtime manager Colonel Tom Parker.
He’s then seen walking around backstage in his classic black leather jacket, while the final shot shows him walking in another classic Elvis look, his white jumpsuit.

The video then featured Elvis’ iconic TCB – Taking Care of Business logo, which was the name of his band.
The singer’s wife Priscilla Presley reportedly designed the lightning bolt logo around the letters TCB, with the singer giving necklaces with this pendant to members of his ‘Memphis Mafia’ inner circle.
The video ends with the confirmation of the untitled biopic’s release date – June 24, 2022, which puts it up against Sony’s Where the Crawdads Sing.

The biopic also stars Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, Dacre Montgomery as Steve Binder, who directed Elvis’ infamous 1968 comeback special and Luke Bracey as Jerry Schilling, a talent manager and member of the Memphis Mafia.
The cast also includes Kodi Smit-McPhee as country music legend Jimmie Rodgers, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as blues legend B.B. King and Richard Roxburgh as Elvis’ father, Vernon Presley.
Luhrmann directs from a script he co-wrote with Sam Bromell and Craig Pearce.

The film is Luhrmann’s first full-length feature film in nearly a decade, since his 2013 adaptation of The Great Gatsby, though he was staying busy on the small screen creating Netflix’s The Get Down.
Butler is coming off The Dead Don’t Die and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and he also stars in the upcoming TV series Masters of the Air.
Hanks currently stars on Apple TV Plus’ Finch, and he will next be seen as Geppetto in director Robert Zemeckis’ live-action Pinocchio movie.
