Elon Musk’s plan to sell blue checks could start “as soon as Monday” as Twitter undergoes a revamp, a report has claimed. Mr Musk’s plan to change the social media platform is starting to come to light as the SpaceX founder hopes to cut 3,700 jobs by the end of the week and start selling blue check subscriptions for $8 (£7) a month.
The 51-year-old has been pitching a subscription model for blue tick users since he bought the company.
Musk even claimed it will end the current “lords and peasants” system on Twitter.
According to Bloomberg, the “badges” could go live as soon as Monday.
Current blue check holders are expected to be handed a “grace period” of multiple months before being forced to cough up the cash to retain their status.

Musk also plans to eliminate around 3,700 employees and end Twitter’s “work from anywhere” policy in an attempt to drive down costs.
The cut would almost half Twitter’s overall workforce and would come after five executives resigned in the past week.
However, not everyone seemed happy to hear about Mr Musk’s plan to introduce a subscription model for blue ticks.
Horror novelist Stephen King was among those to vent their frustrations on social media.

Actress Kathy Burke, who starred as Perry in the nineties sketch comedy Harry Enfield & Chums, also voiced her disappointment about Musk’s plan.
The 58-year-old said: “Musk can f**k off with his idea of charging blue tickers.
“I give my all to this hell site for FREE.
“Cheeky b***h should be paying ME. Don’t need the poxy thing anyway.
“He may take our vibes but he’ll never take our memedom!”
