Since a young age, Dominic Cummings has always been involved in politics.
Born in County Durham, Mr Cummings was privately educated at Durham School and later studied Ancient and Modern History at the University of Oxford.
After graduating in 1994, he moved to Russia until 1997, before coming back to the UK to be the campaign director at Business for Sterling, campaigning against the UK joining the Euro.
Although he was not a member of the Conservative Party at the time, Mr Cummings became Director of Strategy for the Tories’ leader Iain Duncan Smith in 2002.
From 2007 to 2014, he worked as special adviser to Conservative politician Michael Gove, before becoming campaign director of Vote Leave in 2015.
