Details of royal spending via the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant were released on Thursday. They confirmed £85.9million was spent on the Royal Family, and their engagements, in 2020-21.
This included the cost of a controversial trip William and Kate made to Scotland in December.
The couple were touring Britain to celebrate the work of emergency services fighting coronavirus.
They were criticised by some for travelling between England and Scotland against Scottish government advice.
News of the spending sparked outrage from some Scottish residents on social media.
One tweeted: “That’s a disgrace when so many are struggling to make ends meet or even just to put food on the table!”
Another added: “Aye, it was essential PR with photo opportunities.”
A third said: “End this feudal nonsense forever.”
The trip sparked anger at the time by ignoring travel instructions from the Scottish government.

Ms Sturgeon said the royals had been advised of Scottish government advice before they made the trip.
The visit from the Duke and Duchess sparked controversy on social media.
Kirsty Grant tweeted: “I can’t leave East Lothian to visit my mum in Edinburgh because I am following current guidance & laws to keep people safe!
“Yet Kate and William just got off a train and now they’re away visiting schools and hospitals.”
Dr Katrina Farrell, a haematologist, added: “I absolutely do not understand why the #RoyalTrainTour is being allowed in Edinburgh.
“Edinburgh is in tier 3. No non-essential travel into or out of the region.”
A royal source defended the trip when speaking to The Herald.
They said: “Travelling across the border is permitted for work purposes.
“The Duke and Duchess travelled to Scotland to carry out their work, thanking frontline workers who have done so much for the country throughout the pandemic.
“The visits were planned in consultation with the UK, Scottish and Welsh governments.”
