Shell follows Unilever, which announced last year it was moving its headquarters from Rotterdam to London.

According to the FT, Stef Blok, Dutch economy minister, and Hans Vijlbrief, the tax minister, will address parliament tomorrow (Tuesday) about the plans to scrap the tax.

Mr Blok said earlier that the government was “in a dialogue with the management of Shell over the consequences of this plan for jobs, crucial investment decisions and sustainability.”

Shell shareholders are set to vote on the company’s planned changes at a general meeting on December 10.
