At the age of 53, David has bucked the trend by getting into the best shape of his life – and according to several fitness experts, his toned physique is all thanks to a range of sports – from surfing which ‘improves core strength’ to tennis which ‘promotes explosive power and speed.’

Speaking to Ask Men in 2017, David discussed his passion for fitness, as he explained that he always tries to create a routine in each country he’s in.

‘I wake up, take my breakfast, go to the gym, have lunch, and start to work,’ he said. ‘Then in the evening, I take the plane and go to do a show, and after the show go to bed. It takes extra effort but I’m a very driven person.’

He added: ‘My goal is body recomposition. I’m just maintaining my weight but getting more muscular and losing fat. I’m not trying to be a big guy, I just want to be defined and stronger.

According to fitness expert James Griffiths of Wild Training, David doesn’t have the ‘traditional body builder physique’ that most guys get from the basic gym split routines of chest, legs and back days.

‘To me David has a body that looks strong, lean and light,’ he explained. ‘That sort of thing comes from a nice balance of strength and cardio training. If we break down the strength side of it, nothing on his body looks too big.

‘Abs, shoulders, chest and arms are all present and he’s looking fit without looking too muscle bound. That’s the sort of look you can achieve without lifting any weights but using bodyweight and calisthenic style workouts.’

He added: ‘When you’re using your body weight you are always limited to the load you are working with, so the muscles hit a potential limit in how much they can grow, vs traditional weight training where the weights can always get bigger, which means your muscles can grow passed what pure body weight training can achieve.

‘So, if you can’t hit surfing regularly which is as much about strength and power with your bodyweight as it is about cardio, then try and get into some effective bodyweight training. For men, the ultimate bodyweight training for me would always be the Olympic rings.’

The superstar DJ has also spoken about his nutrition in the past, revealing he eats four main meals and two snacks a day.

He went on to say how they were mostly comprised of proteins, a small amount of carbs three times a day, lots of vegetables, fruits three times a day, and zero other types of sugar.

The global DJ added that he makes sure to include healthy fats including avocado, nuts, salmon, sea bass and eats ‘only with olive oil.’

Nutrition expert James Dodds explained that a mixture of weight training and cardio is one of the best ways to grow your muscles while also encouraging your body to use up the fat you’re holding on to.

‘As for nutrition, this is partially down to genetics and to achieve a toned physique, especially as we age, will require you to figure out what combination of foods work best for you,’ he said.

‘However, some key things you can do are to include a lot of protein and fibre, as well as cutting out processed sugar and focusing on healthy fats like omega-3, found in fish, and omega-6 from nuts and seeds.’

‘The important thing to remember is that this is a lifestyle choice and that everything won’t happen all at once. Gradually improving your nutrition and exercise can encourage better results and be healthier over time.’

And while he’s shared many of his hit tunes with the world and is often surrounded by partygoers getting drunk and raving to his tunes, David is quite the opposite.

Speaking to Hindustan Times in 2014, he revealed how he lives a very clean lifestyle and when asked to disclose a side no one knows him, he simply replied: ‘I don’t drink or smoke.’

And according to anti-ageing expert Dr Ross Perry – Medical Director of Cosmedics skin clinics – there’s ‘no doubt about it that David Guetta could easily pass for someone two decades younger.’

He added: ‘It’s not just his finely sculpted body but clearly David takes his healthy lifestyle extremely seriously.’

Dr Perry went on to explain how ageing is often down to two things – genetics and lifestyle.
