Inspired by the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, some fans appear to be buying Halloween costumes inspired by the infamous serial killer. Online stores have seen a huge surge in Jeffrey Dahmer related outfits ahead of Halloween, according to reports.
Dahmer murdered 17 young men and was sentenced to life in prison in 1992.
He was beaten to death in prison in 1994.
Tony Hughes was a deaf man who was one of Dahmer’s victims and his mother Shirley is now raging at those wanting to dress up as her son’s killer for Halloween.
She has said that the costumes are “evil” and that they “exploit families” of the victims of Dahmer.
Speaking to TMZ she said: “It’s already super triggering to see a hit Netflix series about the serial killer, much less folks dressing like the killer.
“It hurts for Netflix and all the online stores to profit off my son’s death, while none of the victims’ families have seen a dime.”
Shirley said that the ads for Dahmer related costumes should be “be taken down” or “at the very least, give the profits to the families”.

Rita gave a passion statement at Dahmer’s trial which was recreated in the Netflix show.
However, she said that the streaming giant didn’t contact her despite portraying her as emotionally broken and she has branded the series “harsh and careless.”
She said: “It brought back all the emotions I was feeling back then, I was never contacted about the show.
“I feel like Netflix should’ve asked if we mind or how we felt about making it . . . They just did it.”
