The Cronulla Sharks Rugby player broke down in tears at the side of a highway in NSW when he realised he would not make it to Sydney in time.

Royce had been booked to fly to Sydney from Brisbane, where he was staying in a team hotel, to attend the birth on Sunday, but Shavaun went into labour early at 2am on Saturday morning.

FoxSports reporter Matt Russell explained: ‘[Royce] said: ‘It was 2am, I’m on the side of highway, I’m an emotional mess. The truckies are flying past at 110km/h and in that surreal moment I saw my son come into the world’.’

‘You’re gonna be the best mum when our son gets here (yes that includes changing all the nappies). No words can describe my love for you’.
