Ronaldo was left with a bloodied nose and was given medical attention by the Portugal staff. A goal always helps Ronaldo’s mood but he wasn’t on top form in that regard either.
He missed one glorious opportunity which summed up his start to the season. Fernandes set him up later in the first half but he completely miss-kicked his effort from 12 yards out with the goal gaping.
Ronaldo looked uncharacteristically rushed at any sniff of a chance. He celebrated with Dalot and Fernandes following their goals.
But, for a player who has always prided himself on being the best, there will be a part of him that is thinking his time to shine may be coming to an end.
