CORONATION Street favourite Carla Connor has been on a devastating downward spiral since the factory roof collapse back in March.
Ridden with guilt, she suffered a huge breakdown which included thinking Rana Habeeb – who died in the Underworld tragedy – was still alive and texting her.
Now, Coronation Street fans have a worrying theory about fragile Carla (played by Alison King), with some thinking she might be about to follow in the footsteps of her younger brother Aidan, who died by suicide last year.
And it looks like they could be on to something as it was revealed earlier this week that Carla would make a suicide attempt.
Carla will take to what’s remaining of the Underworld roof, leaving Peter Barlow desperately trying to talk her down.
Peter is horrified as Carla yells at him that it’s her ‘time to go.’
Distraught from everything that’s happened, she hallucinates and sees her dead brother Aidan before climbing up the stairs to the roof of the factory to talk to him.
Clambering higher, Carla starts yelling that she killed Rana and Peter shouldn’t love “evil”.
A soap source said: “The scenes are really dramatic. When things can’t seem to get any worse for Carla, it appears they do.
“She’s at her lowest and climbs up the stairs after thinking she’s seen Aidan, and appears to be looking for a way out of all her troubles.
“Luckily Peter spots her and convinces her there’s something to live for, eventually managing to talk her down.
“She is taken away by an ambulance and examined by mental health professionals.”
Cobbles sources have revealed that Carla will be hospitalised and put on anti-psychotic drugs following the harrowing scenes.

Meanwhile, Peter will hit the bottle again before going into rehab himself. He’ll decide that he wants to clean his act up so he can look after Carla.
A cobbles source revealed: “Before she’s discharged she is put on anti-psychotic drugs and told she needs someone to look after her around the clock. Much to her family’s confusion, she chooses Peter, with him quitting rehab to do so.”
Carla’s dramatic suicide attempt will actually be her third. She previously tried to take her own life after being raped by Frank Foster back in 2011.
Her second attempt was in 2015 following the fire that ripped through the Victoria Court flats. Carla got the blame for the blaze that killed Kal Nazir and Maddie Heath.
