    Meanwhile, team doctor Morten Boesen has spoken of the gravity of Eriksen’s condition when the game was halted after he collapsed.

    Boesen claimed Eriksen was ‘gone’, adding: “We don’t have an explanation why it happened. I can’t answer that question. We did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest.

    “How close were we to losing him? I don’t know, but we got him back after one defib, so that’s quite fast.”

    Denmark are due to face Belgium on Thursday, and the positive news on Eriksen’s condition should give the side a much-needed boost before taking on one of the tournament favourites.
