Chelsea’s hunt for a top-class striker has taken them all around Europe over the past few weeks. Although he is now well into his thirties, they do not come any more brilliant than Robert Lewandowski, and the Blues have plenty going for them in luring one of the hottest strikers on the continent their way.
Thomas Tuchel and transfer chief Marina Granovskaia had been channelling their efforts towards obtaining Erling Haaland this summer, although those hopes appear to be fading after a rejected opening bid.
Romelu Lukaku has also been mentioned regarding a potential return to Stamford Bridge, although his past comments indicate that he is likely to stay put in Milan.
The Blues do have the option of giving £53million Timo Werner another bite at the cherry next season, after failing to perform to the desired level in front of goal last time out.
However, with Olivier Giroud now bedding in at AC Milan and Tammy Abraham highly likely to be playing elsewhere come the end of the window, Tuchel could do with an extra body up top regardless.

Put simply, the Polish international is soon to turn 33, he has already been crowned Bundesliga top scorer on five separate occasions, and Bundesliga champion on nine occasions.
When all is said and done, Lewandowski has more than proven his point in Germany, suggesting that a new challenge could be an exciting way to round off a glittering career.
Chelsea can boast the 2020 Champions League title, having overcome serious hurdles in the form of Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Man City in order to earn that accolade.
They also flaunt Tuchel, who has been nothing short of a revelation since his arrival in January.

Given the significant momentum they gathered under the German’s guidance, Chelsea should be aiming for nothing short of a Premier League triumph going into the new season.
Another plus point for Lewandowski is the knowledge that a prolific front-man could well be the key ingredient for Chelsea to take that extra step – he could be the difference maker.
The striker, who has a staggering 277 Bundesliga goals to his name, would also be surrounded by an exciting blend of youth and experience at the Bridge.
The likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Christian Pulisic are still coming through, while N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are established stars in their own right.
Tuchel’s project at Chelsea is an exciting one, make no bones about it. With Lewandowski reaching a crossroads in his long and decorated career, they could provide exactly the motivation he needs to stay in top gear for the next few years.
