United’s front four were in fine form as they beat Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday night, with Fred and Bruno Fernandes on the scoresheet, while Rashford and Antony have looked lively in recent weeks.
Potter may have the psychological advantage heading into the game after already getting the better of Ten Hag on one occasion this season, having guided Brighton to a surprise 2-1 victory at Old Trafford thanks to a double from Pascal Gross.
However, he warned not to expect the same heroics from him at Chelsea given the short space of time that has elapsed since he was appointed by American owner Todd Boehly.
“It’s a normal process really. I was at Brighton for three years and we played Man United,” Potter said. “Now I’ve been here six weeks and there’s been a lot of learning for me to do and the process you go through which is normal. But I’m pretty sure that with the quality, things will get better as time goes on.”
