Cardiff City are leading the chase for West Brom striker Charlie Austin who will be allowed to leave The Hawthorns following the £15million arrival of Karlan Grant.
Austin, 31, scored 11 goals in Albion’s promotion-winning season but has yet to feature in the Premier League.
The former Southampton star moved to the club last summer for £4m and has played a total of 40 games the Baggies.

But manager Slaven Bilic has preferred forward Callum Robinson up front, while the signing of Grant makes his position in the team increasingly doubtful.
He started the club’s 3-0 Carabao Cup win against Harrogate Town and came on in their penalty shootout loss to Brentford in the next round, but has only been named in one Premier League matchday squad – failing to make it off the bench in a 3-0 defeat to Leicester on the opening day.
Meanwhile, Stoke City are poised to move for Southampton goalkeeper Angus Gunn on loan should the proposed move of Jack Butland to Crystal Palace be completed before today’s 5pm deadline.
