The two meet in the Champions League semi-finals with the first leg on Wednesday May 1.
Barcelona are runaway leaders in Spain’s top tier with a nine point gap over second-placed Atletico Madrid.
There are five games remaining in La Liga but Barcelona could be crowned champions as soon as Wednesday.
Barcelona face Alaves on Tuesday and know a win could push them closer to the title.
Should Atletico fail to win against Valencia on Wednesday, then title will be Barca’s.
And Valverde would rather the league crown is sealed before they meet Liverpool in the Champions League.
“A lot of people ask me if we want to get La Liga boxed off and that’s what anyone would want to do,” Valverde said.
“We want to win La Liga, whenever that may be and we’ll see if we can get that done.
“It looks easy on paper: a win here, a draw there, we win it on a certain day but we have a lot of good teams to face with a lot to play for and things aren’t easy.”
Liverpool are in the hunt for a title themselves, sitting top of the Premier League.
They are two points clear of Manchester City, though Pep Guardiola’s side have a game in hand.
And Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is determined to stay focused on that rather than the Barcelona clash.
He said: “Some people up in Liverpool might ask us if we are thinking about Barcelona or some bulls**t like that.
“We will be completely focused on Huddersfield, but up to then we have to rest and recover and prepare.
“On Wednesday there is a game as well [the Manchester derby]. When we played Manchester United, they were in a much better moment than they are now and that was 0-0.
“We will see what comes out of that game, but we have no influence on other games.
“If United get a point and we go to Newcastle thinking we have it, then we could get knocked there.
“We just have to stay focused on our things, that’s what has worked so well so far and there is no reason we should change that.”
