If Nelson gets the nod, it would be his first start for Arsenal since January 2021. It would also be his 50th appearance in all competitions for the club.

Nelson has just four goals and four assists so far in a Gunners shirt. But he was always highly rated among the club’s academy staff when progressing through the youth ranks.

He does not turn 23 until December but is in the final year of his contract. He will be hoping to impress Arteta and take any opportunity he is given this term.

Arsenal do not have a large squad, so both Nelson and Cedric are likely to be regulars on match days if they can stay fit.
