Wanted: Kenny Lala
Arsenal have been joined by Premier League champions Manchester City in their pursuit of Strasbourg defender Kenny Lala.
That’s according to French publication Le10 Sport, who claim the talented right-back would cost upwards of £13million.
Unai Emery wants a right-back to provide cover for Hector Bellerin, while City boss Pep Guardiola wants someone to rival Kyle Walker for a starting berth.
Lala, 27, has made 35 appearances in all competitions this campaign, netting four goals and providing a further 10 assists.
Arsenal are one of several clubs interested in signing Brazilian teenager Antony.
Antony, 19, has only made six senior appearances for Sao Paulo – bagging two assists – but already has a handful of suitors with Ajax, PSV, Monaco and Lyon all interested.
Antony’s agent Junior Pedroso, who also represents Tottenham’s Lucas Moura, has flown to Europe to hold a series of meetings, Yahoo journalist Jorge Nicola claims.
Nicola adds that Antony has a £42million release clause in his contract – but his entourage think they’ll get a £21m offer this summer.
Swap them all!
Paul Merson would swap the whole Gunners defence for Leicester’s back four in a heartbeat.
Ricardo Pereira and Ben Chilwell have been the regular full-backs, with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the centre of defence.
And Merson reckons that is better than any defence Arsenal boss Unai Emery could field.
“I’d take the Leicester back four over Arsenal’s all day long,” Merson said on Sky Sports. “I’d swap the whole lot tomorrow morning.”
Arsenal will hope to have Nacho Monreal fit for their Europa League semi-final first leg at home to Valencia on Thursday night.
The defender missed the weekend defeat to Leicester with a calf problem but trained on Wednesday morning.
Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) will not play for the club again, while Danny Welbeck (ankle), Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding (both knee) are all out for the season.
Provisional squad: Leno, Cech, Maitland-Niles, Lichtsteiner, Jenkinson, Mustafi, Koscielny, Papastathopoulos, Monreal, Kolasinac, Xhaka, Guendouzi, Torreira, Elneny, Iwobi, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette, Nketiah.
