Arsenal fan favourite sees his future in doubt after Mikel Arteta plan becomes clear

When Tomiyasu was substituted during Sunday’s win over Nottingham Forest, it was another right-footer in Cedric Soares who got the nod to replace him. Tierney did come on later in the game and perhaps Arteta just wanted to give Cedric minutes, as he hadn’t featured at all so far this season.

But whatever the reason was, Tierney’s pride would surely have taken another dent. Arteta clearly wants his left-back to be comfortable to come infield, something Zinchenko is the best at.

But being right-footed makes it easier to drift inside for those players who are not exactly used to playing in a more central role. Tierney is one of the last of Unai Emery’s signings and it is becoming increasingly apparent that he is not at the forefront of Arteta’s plans moving forward.
