‘Armed robber’ caught and battered in street by public after sledgehammer raid on West London jeweller’s

THIS is the moment hero Londoners batter masked armed robbers who ram-raided a jeep through a jewellers’ shop window today.

Three raiders wearing crash helmets are seen fleeing from the store in Shepherds Bush, West London after smashing a car through the front.

Dramatic footage shows all three scarper, with one thug breaking a window of Sultan Jewellers before running off.

But two have-a-go heroes bravely approach the wrecked store front to take on the brazen thieves, who run away from the store on Uxbridge Road.

The first thief out the door is seen clutching a swag bag as all three robbers escape, threatening passers-by with sledgehammers.

One thug holds his weapon above his head as he tries to hit one of the men confronting him.

Within seconds, an angry crowd gathers around the fallen thief and being beating him
More onlookers race over with some seen kicking the raider on the floor

But the third thief to race from the jewellers is knocked to the floor by an outraged member of the public.

Within seconds up to a dozen passers-by race towards him and beginning punching him as he lays on the road.

Others pile in and kick him while he is down as the thief is given a taste of street justice.

One man is seen holding people back as the raider tries to get to his feet.

STREET JUSTICE

But as he is being helped up three police officers run across to arrest him.

One local resident who posted footage of the incident tweeted: “This is craaazy!!! Dont mess with the neighbourhood for real!!”

A police spokesman said: “Police were called at 17:21hrs on Friday, 25 October to Uxbridge Road W12 after a car was reportedly driven into the shop front of a jewellery store before the occupants got out and began trying to steal goods.

“Officers attended.


“One male [age unknown] has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

“Enquiries are ongoing to locate at least two other suspects who fled the scene.

“A crime scene is in place. Enquires continue.”
