Antonio Conte has several concerns about taking over as Tottenham’s new manager as he delays making his decision on replacing Jose Mourinho, according to reports, including two transfer-related worries.
The Italian only left Inter Milan at the end of May after a two-year spell yielded their first Serie A title in over a decade, with Mourinho the last previous Inter head coach to lift the Scudetto.
The former Chelsea manager, 51, left as a result of problems with the club’s hierarchy over the financial issues that are expected to see them sell high-profile assets in the summer transfer window.
In recent days Conte has emerged as one of the most likely appointments at Spurs to replace Mourinho, who was sacked in April.
Ryan Mason took temporary charge but is not in the running for the position permanently and so Spurs have been hard at work canvassing their options.
Julian Nagelsmann was one but has swapped RB Leipzig for Bayern Munich to replace Hansi Flick while Brendan Rodgers remains committed to Leicester City after winning the FA Cup.

A return for Mauricio Pochettino was mooted but Paris Saint-Germain have automatically extended his contract despite the Argentine being keen on heading back to Spurs.
Conte, who has had success with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, is now in the frame but per The Times is worried about Spurs’ vision for the future, their ability to spend compared with their rivals and the future of Harry Kane.
The four-time Serie A-winning tactician is worried about how Spurs plan to freshen up their team and is worried about the superior finances of rivals Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
That ties in with his concern about their long-term vision, with the former Italy international wanting to be convinced by the north Londoners that they have a plan to compete with their fellow ‘Big Six’ sides.
Key to that could be what happens with Kane, with the club’s talismanic striker wanting to leave the club following a seventh-placed Premier League finish and no silverware.
The 27-year-old, who was the English top flight’s most productive goalscorer and assist maker in 2020-21, is a target for United, City and Chelsea.
“The objective was a three-year project to take Inter back to having ambition, to challenge for important targets. The fact I achieved that in my second season is very satisfying.
“It’s certainly not easy to be a coach, especially at the top level, because the expectations and stress really do increase. You must learn to live with these situations, knowing you will have to do it alone.’
Asked where he sees himself in five years’ time, Conte said: “I would like to have more experiences abroad. I’d also like to work in America.”
Fabrizio Romano meanwhile claims that Spurs have reached an agreement with ex-Juventus director Fabio Paratici to make him their new director of football.
It’s believed Paritici will come in regardless of what happens with Conte over the next few days.
