He’s a former soldier-turned TV personality who’s lived a colourful existence over his 40 years.
And Ant Middleton has spoken about one of the darker chapters of his life in a Sunday interview with the Sydney Morning Herald.
The SAS Australia host spoke candidly about the ‘alcohol-fuelled mistake’ that led to him spending four months behind bars in 2013.

‘I spent four months in prison for the assault of two police officers outside a nightclub,’ the author admitted during the interview.
He also said he had spoken to his children about the period in his life.
‘They know I am a good man [and] that the situation was an alcohol-fuelled mistake,’ said the adventurer.

In 2015 Ant told the Mirror he was ‘filled with remorse’ over the incident, which he blamed on the difficulties involved with transitioning from military life to civilian life.
Meanwhile, family came first last Monday as Middleton did the school run after returning to the UK following a work trip to Australia.

The TV star was joined by four of his five children in a new Instagram post as he settles back into domestic life following a trip to Sydney for the Australian version of SAS: Who Dares Wins.
Clearly pleased to be back on home soil, Middleton grinned as he posed alongside daughters Shyla, 13, Priseis, five and and sons Gabriel, 11, and Bligh four – his children with wife Emilie.
The former soldier is also a parent to son Oakley, his eldest child, from a past relationship.

Captioning the post, he wrote: ‘Straight home, straight into the school run… Now the school run is a hugely important part of the day and it’s absolutely crucial that it’s done with a smile on your face.
‘Positivity is contagious and for that hour of the day set not only yourself up to be in a positive headspace but more importantly set your children up to start the day off with a positive mindset!
‘Make a concerted effort to be positive first thing in the morning and then over time watch it become the norm… Happy to be home with my family.’

Middleton was recently dropped by Channel 4 – the home of SAS: Who Dares Wins UK – due to his alleged ‘personal conduct,’ with the presenter fiercely denying claims that he was axed for making ‘inappropriate’ or ‘lewd comments’ to female staff on set.
Speaking on a new podcast, he also hit out at ‘victim mentality’ and said he’s ‘too far gone now to be completely cancelled’.
He said: ‘I can get as drunk as a skunk and that’s not in my nature, that’s not who I am.

‘My family knows that and my wife knows that. I’m more of a boys’ boy – let’s f*** off the chicks and go and have a drink with the lads. It makes me realise how this victim mentality is really taking over.
‘My career could be cancelled if I wasn’t who I am. I’m too far gone and too long in the tooth now to be completely cancelled.’
Ant also detailed how his wife Emilie had asked him about the furore following his exit from SAS: Who Dares UK, with him telling her to think about how he’s always acted around her and his ‘super polite’ nature.

He told the podcast: ‘I’m like, ‘Emilie, go back to who I am. When you first met me and I was drunk, have I ever been sleazy? No. Am I super polite? Yes, I am.’
Ant went on to claim there has been a ‘witch hunt’ against him in the UK, remarking: ‘Witch hunt? I never thought that existed until the latest shenanigans with SAS UK.’
He added: ‘Ultimately people can see through it and know I was pushed before I could jump.’
