An Amazon delivery driver was found dead after a suspected dog attack on Monday. Officers shot and killed two “highly aggressive” dogs at around 8.30pm local time (2.30am GMT) after neighbours reported an Amazon van being parked at an address in Excelsior Springs, Ray County, Missouri for several hours.

The man’s body was found in the front yard near the animals – and one ran into the house through a dog door after being shot by police, local reports say.

Ray County Sheriff Scott Childers described arriving at the scene after being advised the aggressive animals were roaming in the house.

Blood could be seen on the dog door leading into the property.

The dogs were a German shepherd and an English mastiff, according to NBC affiliate KSHB of Kansas City.

Sheriff Childers did not immediately disclose the man’s identity.

The man’s family was being notified on Monday night.

He also said the medical examiner will determine the cause of death, but the victim’s injuries were consistent with being attacked by an animal.

Sheriff Childers said the owners of the residence were not home, and it appears they are out of town.
