They began dating in 2019 after nine months of friendship.

And Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall, 38, and Tisha Merry, 27, looked more loved up than ever as they strolled to a romantic date night at Australasia in Manchester on Friday night.

The soap stars beamed as they made their way to the popular restaurant for dinner while sweetly holding hands.

Tisha cut a glamorous figure as she stepped out in a ruffled Bardot style coral midi dress and gold wedge sandals.

She accessorised with a cute black cross-body bag and a pair of large gold hoop earrings which were visible as she tucked her sleek raven tresses behind her.

Meanwhile, Alan opted for a laidback look and donned black skinny jeans and a grey T-shirt for the outing.

He layered the signature outfit under a light grey jacket with a white fur collar to keep off the chill and completed the ensemble with a pair of black trainers.

Alan, who has played Tyrone on the Coronation Street since 1998, and Tisha, who starred as Steph until late 2019, were friends for months before finally getting together.

And last year the soap stars revealed the struggles of co-parenting in their first ever joint interview.

Speaking to OK! Magazine the couple explained how their romance blossomed a year ago, as well as the complexities of Tisha taking on the role of step-parent to Alan’s daughter Sienna, six, whose mum is his ex wife Lucy-Jo Hudson.

Tisha explained she and Alan got together after nine months of friendship, during which they frequented the same yoga studio and lived just a mile apart.

Alan admits ‘Tisha knew I liked her’, but it took Tisha to decide she saw him in a romantic way before things progressed.

‘When you’re really good friends, you’re scared of ruining things,’ she explained. ‘But then we had a bottle of wine over a game of Scrabble and by the end we’d decided to give things a go. I love how our relationship started.’

Tisha soon moved into Alan’s six bedroom home which he shares with daughter Sienna, who Tisha first met and bonded with when the two were still just friends.

Reflecting on the whirlwind changes in her life, Tisha said ‘In all honesty I’ve had a few times where I’ve thought “Oh my god, my life has changed so much”. It’s crazy but it’s changing for the better.’

‘When I first got together with Alan and I became a bigger part of Sienna’s life, my dad said “this will be the making of you”. It’s tricky when you’ve gone from being a single girl with no one else to think about to someone with a family. It’s the best thing in the world but it can be really daunting.’

Alan spoke about the ‘ups and downs’ of co-parenting Sienna with his ex Lucy-Jo, especially now his former wife has welcomed a child with her boyfriend Lewis Devine.

Alan seemingly lashed out at Lewis last year after he called the actor’s daughter his own.

The Tyrone Dobbs actor appeared to make a remark in response to Lewis’ gushing post following the birth of his and Lucy-Jo’s son Carter in February 2020.

Amid his excitement at becoming a new dad, Lewis heaped praise on Lucy-Jo and Alan’s six-year-old girl Sienna, with part of his statement reading: ‘Our Sienna is delighted and is already making the best big sister, just like I knew she would!’

In a now-deleted Instagram post viewed by The Sun, Alan didn’t appear to take too kindly to Lewis’ use of the word ‘our’ and seemed to hit back at his ex’s new beau.

He wrote: ‘You’re welcome to keep the lying cheating one & call her your own! But not my daughter.’

Lucy-Jo split from Alan in May 2018, after nearly nine years of marriage; it was revealed that she’d embarked on a relationship with Lewis just two months later.

Speaking to OK!, Alan admitted things can be difficult, explaining: ‘There’s always going to be ups and downs with a blended family.’

‘So long as Sienna comes first in all of it, that’s all that matters. Sienna’s got her mum and dad, and she’s also got Lewis and Tisha. It’s just a case that everybody loves her.’

‘Of course there will be differences of opinion; so long as we’re in that loving way when Sienna is around. We don’t have a great deal of communication, it’s only ever about Sienna and that’s all it ever needs to be.’

As for the future, Tisha hopes she and Alan will have a child of their own, gushing ‘He’s such a good dad, he’s so caring and loving. I would love that for our child if we have one.’
