Wayne Couzens kidnapped Sarah Everard as she walked home from a friend’s home on March 3. She was later raped and killed by serving Metropolitan police officer Wayne Couzens. Sarah Everard’s killer Wayne Couzens has been sentenced to a whole life prison term.

Question Time was filmed in Birmingham and presented by Fiona Bruce, panelists included Wes Streeting MP, George Eustice MP, Ella Whelan, Karan Bilimoria CBI President and Amy Hart.

An audience member asked: “In the light of recent events, as a woman, how can any female trust the police?”

Another responded: “I think any woman going out alone, going about her business should feel safe, for what that man did, it’s just chilling isn’t it?

“To think about using that warrant card, or whatever he used, whatever system he had in his mind, to obviously lure her, was a real breach of what the police should do.”

Fiona Bruce asked the audience member whether she could trust a police officer during the evening if she was on the road.

The audience member responded: “No, I don’t feel I could.”

Another female audience member said: “I agree we shouldn’t let one bad apple ruin the bunch, but if I’ve eaten a bad apple I’d probably be put off eating one for a while.”

She continued to say she “would never have thought twice” about dealing with the police, prior to the actions of Wayne Couzens.
