Australian Survivor’s Cara Atchison shares the shocking moment co-star George Mladenov saved her life in an unaired segment

They formed one of the best working partnerships on the current season of Australian Survivor: Brains vs Brawn.

But Cara Atchison has shared one special moment when George Mladenov saved her from getting burnt by a campfire while the contestants were sleeping.

‘It was so cold one night and it was in Brains 2.0,’ the 47-year-old real-estate agent said in an interview with New Idea after getting voted off on Monday’s episode.

‘It was Gerald, George and myself sleeping and I was in the middle, and my head was so close to the fire – I was literally a foot away,’ she continued.

‘When I was asleep – some of the embers went on my duffle bag and George was up and awake and he goes, “Cara! Cara! Cara! Wake up! Your hair’s on fire! Your hair’s on fire!” and I’m like “what!?”‘

Cara said because the contestants were tired and hungry it took them a ‘minute or two’ to realise that the bag had caught on fire, not her.

The ‘Duchess of Double Bay’ then recalled that George kept telling her ‘I saved your life,’ which she confessed was probably true.

Cara reflects on the segment with laughter but says, unfortunately for viewers, the incident will never make it to air as the cameras weren’t rolling at the time.

Cara and George have enjoyed one of the closest bonds on this season of Survivor.

It was George who dubbed her the ‘Duchess of Double Bay’ as he referred to himself as the ‘King of Bankstown’.

‘He’s constantly thinking and I was kind of like a bit calmer. We trusted each other implicitly and I think that’s the key,’ the mother-of-three said.

The duo voted for one another on Monday night’s tribal council, which ended with Cara packing her bags and leaving.

It leaves three contestants left: George, Felicity ‘Flick’ Palmateer and Hayley Leake.
