Nadia Bartel slammed for ‘gutless’ apology after footage of her breaking lockdown and ‘snorting cocaine’ was accidentally posted on Instagram

Nadia Bartel has been slammed for issuing a ‘gutless’ apology after footage emerged of her breaking Melbourne’s lockdown and snorting what is believed to be cocaine at a party on Thursday night.

The former WAG, 35, wrote a statement to Instagram after the embarrassing video was leaked.

But some fans have slammed Nadia’s brief apology, and condemned her for turning off comments on her post.

Entertainment reporter Peter Ford Tweeted: ‘Probably wisely Nadia doesn’t want to see public response with comments turned off. But seems a well worded response that doesn’t really say or admit anything. And to her credit she didn’t reach into the glomesh and pull out the mental health card.’

Another wrote: ‘The little kids suffer the most at the end. They will have to carry their mum’s reputation. Not fair.’

‘Typical I am sorry that I got caught. Cannot believe ANY company will keep her on as an influencer! Choices have consequences. Committed a crime shoved it in the face of everyone following lockdown rules,’ one person commented.

Another said: ‘Nadia has issued an Instagram apology. As my grandma used to say “you’re not sorry, you’re just sorry you got caught”.’

Another person agreed, writing: ‘An apology is not an apology without leaving the door open for discussion, criticism and understandable anger. To close off commenting on her page is a sign of trying to close the door as quickly as possible without dealing with the repercussions.’

They ended: ‘That is not cool. Hope she learns that those friends in the video openly offering her coke-are not friends at all.’

Footage of Nadia snorting white powder off a plate at the gathering started going viral on Friday morning.

In the video, Bartel is seen snorting the powder off a $1.50 Kmart plate being held by a dark-haired woman, as a third woman displays a two-fingered hand gesture in the background.

Private and public gatherings are not permitted in Melbourne, where Bartel lives, under Victoria’s Covid restrictions.

Bartel broke her silence and issued an apology over the incident on Friday evening.

‘Hi everyone, I have let you all down by my actions. I take full responsibility and I am committed to taking all necessary steps to ensure I make better choices in future,’ she wrote in an Instagram post on Friday evening.

‘To my family and friends, my business partners and the public health workers trying to keep us all safe, I am embarrassed and remorseful.

‘I am truly and deeply sorry. I hope I can earn your forgiveness and, in time, your trust.’

On Friday evening, Victorian police attended Bartel’s $3million inner-city residence.

Two plain clothes police officers were seen arriving at her home but were reportedly unable to make contact with her.

The officers rang the doorbell repeatedly to no answer, and were also seen making a phone call before leaving the property, the Herald Sun reported.

It comes as the Department of Health issued a statement saying it was ‘liaising with Victoria Police in relation to the alleged incident’.
