The four numbers that standout as possible options from those available are 18, 23, 30 and 35, though the midfielder has never worn any of them before for club or country.
If he takes 23, that would see him replace Billy Gilmour, who left for Norwich City on a season-long loan.
Number 30 meanwhile has not been worn since David Luiz left the club, while 18 was last the number worn by Olivier Giroud, who has since joined AC Milan.
