Blue Wiggle Anthony Field admits he’s been miming ‘for YEARS’ with Simon Pryce singing his low notes – as he lifts the lid on the band’s secrets
Anthony Field has dropped a bombshell about The Wiggles, admitting he doesn’t sing all his parts because he can’t hit the low notes.
The Blue Wiggle revealed on Nova FM’s Fitzy and Wippa on Tuesday he has ‘mimed’ certain parts ‘for years’ while performing with the children’s band.
The 58-year-old made the admission after being asked to sing Fruit Salad, telling radio hosts Ryan ‘Fitzy’ Fitzgerald and Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli: ‘I never sing.’

Co-host Sarah McGilvray asked him: ‘Have you just, like, lifted the lid on a huge Wiggles scandal? That you don’t sing?’
‘Believe this or not, I mimed Simon’s voice for years,’ he said, referring to his co-star Simon Pryce, a.k.a. the Red Wiggle.
‘People ask me to sing in public and they get very disappointed,’ Anthony added.

Sarah said those ‘disappointed’ fans would have thought he was being a ‘diva’.
‘Oh, well, in my day it was called the Milli Vanilli,’ Anthony laughed, referring to the R&B duo infamously exposed for lip syncing in late 1980s.
However, Anthony wasn’t being entirely serious when he said he ‘never’ sings.
He does sing live during concerts and performs most of his parts on TV shows and recordings, but gets Simon to do the lower notes he can’t reach.

Anthony revealed an actor named Richard stood in for the British record executive, who couldn’t be present for the shoot.
Simon’s face was then digitally added in post-production.
‘I don’t know how they do it digitally but they removed his head and put Simon’s head there,’ he explained.
‘He is a great actor, and he’s a real estate agent in the Eastern Suburbs,’ he added of Richard.

The Wiggles last week announced the hiring of four new ‘diverse’ members.
Three women and a former pop singer will be joining Anthony Field, Simon Pryce, Emma and Lachlan Gillespie.
Kelly will be sharing the Wiggles’ stage with fellow newcomer Tsehay Hawkins, a 15-year-old who was adopted from Ethiopia.
They will be joined by Justice Crew member John Pearce, a 30-year-old personal trainer with a Filipino background.
Rounding out the new arrivals is Evie Ferris, a 24-year-old Indigenous dancer from Cairns.
