How The Voice Australia’s new snappy format has driven ratings through the roof… so why are some viewers whingeing about it?

The new season of The Voice Australia has been a ratings smash for Channel Seven thanks to its all-star judging panel and snappy new format.

Seven have adapted a tighter format, ditching the battle rounds for ‘cuts’ in an effort to attract a younger audience and adapt to the latest viewing trends.

Many fans long-time fans of the reality singing contest say they are thrilled with the reimagining of the show, insisting it just takes a while to get used to.

While one viewer said on Tuesday they couldn’t ‘keep up’ this week, they added: ‘I’ll be right though.’

Meanwhile, another commented on how the new format has allowed incredible talent to shine through.

‘So much amazing talent on The Voice this year. Huge congratulations to Jordan and Sian for both making it through,’ they wrote.

However, some viewers vented their frustrations on Tuesday, saying they miss the battle rounds and don’t particularly like the ‘cuts’ made this week, as the contestants didn’t get to really sing.

‘Viewers set up and ripped off by the cut, too much of a build up (for ratings) then they get a few seconds and then out, silly format, lost interest quickly,’ one fan tweeted.

Another added: ‘Not a fan of the new format. It was much better with the battles, at least we got to see the contestants sing. They deserve better than this Channel Seven!’

Another tweeted: ‘These cuts on The Voice, some of them were brushed aside and we didn’t even get to see them sing again.’

They added: ‘Another TV format completely disrespected and ruined by Channel Seven.’
