Long, lazy days at the beach are becoming a distant memory for the millions of Aussies stuck in Covid lockdown.

And Today’s entertainment reporter Brooke Boney reminded her fans on Monday that the quickest way to get back to the beach is by getting vaccinated.

She posted a throwback photo to Instagram of herself in a maroon bikini after a dip in the ocean, and wrote: ‘Fondly remembering back to the times we could go 10km for our state-sanctioned exercise swims.’

‘I guess I’ll have to put off learning how to swim for another year,’ she added.

Brooke went on to encourage people to get vaccinated against Covid to end lockdown sooner rather than later.

‘Pls get vaccinated so I don’t have to wait till November to do this again,’ she wrote.

Brooke received her first dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine in July.

It comes after Brooke revealed the less than glamorous side of her job at Channel Nine: the early starts.

‘I don’t know how I ended up being someone who does all these breakfast shows when I am naturally a night owl who loves my sleep-ins,’ she told Mediaweek.

Brooke said she’s managed to deal with the unpleasant morning alarm by going to bed at the same time every night.

‘It is not easy and it is not fun setting your alarm for that time but you just do it,’ she said, admitting the first ten minutes of her days ‘absolutely suck’.

Once she arrives on set, however, Brooke said she’s able to snap into her peppy TV persona immediately.

‘The year before I was eating terribly, and I wasn’t looking after myself properly and I actually put on a lot of weight,’ she admitted.

‘I just started eating really healthy and just getting into heaps of veggies and not drinking as much.’
