She is the Australian actress who is making a name for herself in the US.

And while she’s certainly recognisable, Nine Perfect Strangers star Samara Weaving has often been mistaken for fellow Aussie beauty and Hollywood A-lister, Margot Robbie.

In an interview with KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the 29-year-old admitted she sometimes plays along when she asked if she is Suicide Squad star.

‘I think it happens a little bit, but it’s really hard to explain to them because I’m not, because of the Australian actress and we’re a similar age,’ she said.

‘Sometimes I just lean into it.’

‘You may as well sign her name and that’s it then!’ joked host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson.

Samara rose to fame Down Under when she played Summer Bay high school student Indi Walker on Home and Away.

Similarly, Margot, got her first big break on another Aussie soap, Neighbours, playing the role of lovable Donna Freedman.

Elsewhere in the interview, Samara told hosts Jackie, and Kyle Sandilands exactly what it was like working with another Aussie Hollywood heavyweight, Nicole Kidman.

She had nothing but praise for the star as she spoke about their time shooting the upcoming Amazon Prime series, Nine Perfect Strangers, in Byron Bay.

It comes after Nicole, 54, admitted she was ‘bats**t crazy’ on-set and refused to answer people who called her by her name, instead insisting on staying in character the whole time while filming.

‘(Nicole) She’s so funny, so generous and kind,’ Samara said on the radio show.

‘And I learned a lot from watching her and watching everyone on that set actually,’ she added of the cast, which also includes Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans and Asher Keddie.

Samara, who is based in the US for work, said she loved filming the show in Australia as she wasn’t even sure she would be able to get back into her home country to film.

‘It was ridiculous, nuts, first of all, I didn’t think I was going to be able to go back to Australia when the pandemic hit,’ she explained.

‘So to be able to go back and work and in Byron with some of my favourite actors of all time,’ she trailed off.

Nicole revealed in an interview this week that she stayed in character the whole time she was filming the show, joking she was ‘bats**t crazy’.

The 54-year-old actress plays wellness resort director Masha in the upcoming limited series and insisted on staying in character for the five months she was working on the drama.

Joking she was ‘bats**t crazy’ – a line her character uses in the series – she explained during a TCA panel: ‘I’d only respond as Masha. I wanted a very calm healing energy to emanate all the time so I remember going over to people and sort of putting my hand on their heart, holding their hand, they would talk to me or use my name Nicole when I would completely ignore them.

‘The only way I could actually relate to people was that way because I felt like otherwise I would be doing a performance and I didn’t want to feel that way.’

The show follows nine stressed city dwellers looking for a better way of living at a health-and-wellness resort, but Nicole admitted there’s no easy way to categorise the program, which is based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name.
