A photograph posted on social media shows the vehicle on fire, with smoke billowing from its cabin.
The incident took place on the A21, which is now closed in both directions.
Police officers and firefighters are dealing with the incident.
Highways England tweeted: “INCIDENT! A21 southbound Lamberhurst Bypass there is a vehicle fire.
“The road is currently closed in both directions between the A262 and Scotney Castle whilst Kent Fire and Rescue Service and Kent Police deal with the situation.”
