Du Wenlong, a military expert at China’s Military Culture Society, said that Chinese force would arrive on the neighbouring island quickly. Wenlong told China’s state-controlled broadcaster CCTV that this gives the US “no chance to intervene in a Taiwan Strait conflict”.
This new provocative language is causing tensions between the two nations as fears of all-out conflict worries surge.
This threat comes amid a series of air and naval incursions by the Chinese military, People’s Liberation Army (PLA), into territory Taiwan claims.
The Chinese military has continued prolonged exercises in the East China Sea, including 20 nautical miles northeast of the disputed Senkaku Islands.
“The PLA exercises are not only warnings, but also show real capabilities and pragmatically practising reunifying the island, if it comes to that,” a source told Global Times, the Chinese state news.

Speaking at the Communist Party’s 100th birthday celebrations, the Chinese President Xi Jinping repeated China’s plans to take back Taiwan.
“Resolving the issue of Taiwan and achieving the complete unification of China is a historical mission and the unshakable commitment of the Communist Party of China,” he said.
Taiwan is a democratically ruled nation, however, China claims sovereignty over the island and has indicated plans on merging it with the mainland.
China has not ruled out using force to achieve this.
