Teddy Sinclair, a.k.a. Natalia Kills, and her husband Willy Moon say they have lost ‘almost everything’ after their Greenwich Village apartment caught fire.
The New York-based couple, best known for being abruptly fired from The X Factor New Zealand in 2015 after they berated a contestant on air, shared dramatic footage of the ‘five-alarm gas fire’ to Instagram on Wednesday.
The blaze ‘took 200 firemen and 12 hours to put out,’ according to a post on the official account of their band Cruel Youth.

In a caption accompanying images of the inferno, the 34-year-old songwriter wrote: ‘This weekend Willy and I survived a fire… not just any fire, but a five-alarm gas fire that took 200 firemen and 12 hours to put out.
‘We lost almost everything but our neighbour saved our dog Bambi and luckily we get to start over together!
‘It’s terrifying and tragic, and after a hard year with Covid the next few months won’t be easy… but honestly I couldn’t feel any more lucky/blessed than I do right now!’
‘Thank you so so much to the brave firefighters that kicked ass and risked their lives, thank you to our neighbor Kyle for saving our dog, and a huge thank you to our friends,’ she concluded.

The former actress posted videos of the blaze on Instagram Stories, accompanied by her own commentary in which she described the carnage.
In the videos, the English-born singer-songwriter notably spoke with what sounded like an American accent.
Sinclair and Moon, 31, moved to the United States in March 2015 following their brief but controversial reality TV career.

Teddy – then known as Natalia Kills – and Willy were sacked from the New Zealand version of The X Factor in 2015 for humiliating a contestant on stage.
Singer Joe Irvine was roasted by the judges following his rendition of Justin Timberlake’s Cry Me a River.
When giving her feedback to the contestant, Sinclair accused Irvine of copying her husband’s style.

‘As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted with how much you have copied my husband,’ she told a visibly stunned Irvine.
‘From the hair, to the suit, do you not have any value or respect for originality? You’re a laughing stock, it’s cheesy, it’s disgusting, I personally found it absolutely artistically atrocious.’
Moon added: ‘To me it just seems a little bit cheap and absurd. It’s like Norman Bates dressing up in his mother’s clothing. It’s just a little bit creepy.’
The network that aired the show, TV3, immediately fired the husband-and-wife duo citing their ‘destructive tirades’.
