    Neil Patrick Harris ‘to fly back to the US next week’ after Seven axed filming of Australia’s Got Talent due to Sydney’s Covid-19 outbreak

    Neil Patrick Harris is expected to return to the US next week, after Channel Seven cancelled filming of Australia’s Got Talent. 

    According to Emerald City this Sunday, the actor, 48, is already packing his bags despite only finishing quarantine last week.  

    Neil was in the harbour city alongside his long-time husband David Burtka, and their ten-year-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace.

    The family are believed to be staying at a mansion in Tamarama, in the city’s eastern suburbs. 

    They had spent their two-week mandatory quarantine at the Meriton Suites, in Sydney’s CBD. 

    Last week, Channel Seven revealed the network would not film Australia’s Got Talent due to the escalating Covid-19 crisis.

    ‘Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in Sydney, we have decided to postpone production of the new season of AGT to a date to be determined,’ Seven said.  

    ‘A studio audience is a vitally important part of this much-loved show, so we have made the responsible but tough call to not go ahead for now.’

    AGT was due to begin shooting last week at Rooty Hill RSL in Sydney, but filming was postponed due to the escalating Covid-19 situation.

    It has now been called off entirely due to harsh restrictions n the city. English singer Alesha Dixon was also set to star on the reality show. 

    The show’s celebrity judges, also including radio host Kate Ritchie and actor Shane Jacobson, are all ‘expected to be paid in full’ for their time. 

    Former Australian Idol star Ricki-Lee Coulter was also to return as the show’s host.
