The Duke of Sussex and his grandmother are extremely fond of one another and their affection has endured despite recent royal dramas. But Harry’s relocation to America alongside his wife Meghan has led to him seeing the monarch even less.
The 36-year-old jetted to the UK to stand alongside William, 39, and unveil a new statue of their mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace on Thursday.
At the time the Queen was at Balmoral Castle in Scotland – but returned to Kensington later that day.
Unfortunately for her, Harry returned to the US the same evening – where the Duchess of Sussex, 39, is caring for their two young children – meaning it was unlikely that the pair met, Hello Magazine reported.
His quick departure prompted a furious reaction from many Express.co.uk readers.

“Major mistake.”
Meanwhile a fourth fumed: “So once again he cannot delay his return by a day in order to see his grandmother who he claims to be so close to.
“He can’t wait to get away rather than stay to see his 95-year-old gran. Utterly appalling.
“Having recently lost his grandfather, surely he would take the opportunity to see her.
“Hopefully for him his wife and children will be around for years, his grandmother sadly will not.”
The brothers put on a united front for the ceremony which took place on what would have been the princess’s 60th birthday.
They said: “We remember her love, strength and character.
“Qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.”
They said they hoped the statue would “be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy” and thanked “all those around the world who keep our mother’s memory alive”.
The event was the first time Harry and Prince William, 39, reunited in public since Prince Philip’s funeral.
It was seen as an opportunity for the once close brothers to mend relations – which have become increasingly strained over recent years.
But how successful these talks were, and if they even materialised, remains to be seen.
