As the final minutes of the game played out, Mr Low’s time as the team’s boss came to a disappointing and emotional end.
Mr Low was at Wembley watching the game unfold and during a quiet moment, he started to play with his nose.
After he appeared to pick his nostril, the Germany boss proceeded to lick the same hand.
Fans were stunned by what they saw and many quickly took to social media to share their shock.
Alongside a clip of the personal moment, one said: “None of us will miss Joachim Low at major tournaments.”
A second added: “Can you imagine what this dude gets up to behind closed doors?”
