Corretja has warned Nadal and his rivals that the French Open could be ddifferent this year, thanks to the recent wet weather and the introduction of night matches.

Asked if night matches will change the dynamics of the tournament, he said: “I think it will a little bit.

“It can create problems for players a little bit if matches go long into the night because matches will finish late, conditions will be totally different – it is the same in different Slams we know – but here especially the clay will be so wet.”

The qualifying rounds are underway at the French Open, which runs until June 13.
