Royal Family LIVE: 'Homesick' Prince Harry 'willing to admit missteps he has made'

Respected royal biographer Robert Lacey said a “homesick” Duke of Sussex has been “mournfully” calling friends in the UK in recent weeks after facing a backlash over his comments about Prince Charles. Mr Lacey, the author of Battle of Brothers, added that Harry has been telling them he would like to make up with the royals.

Writing in the Daily Mail, the royal expert said: “‘Homesick Harry’ has been calling UK pals mournfully in recent weeks, since his public complaints against Prince Charles were so poorly received.”

Mr Lacey said the friends “have been trying to point out to him the risk he is running with his stream of hurtful, personal complaints”.

He added: “I’m told that Harry has been telling friends he would like to reconcile, and is willing to admit some of the missteps he has made.”

It comes as Harry is back in Britain ahead of the unveiling of a Princess Diana statue at Kensington Palace on Thursday.

Much attention has been focussed on once-close brothers Harry and Prince William, who are at the centre of an ongoing rift, ahead of the event.

Last month, Harry accused the royals of “total neglect” in his Apple TV documentary series, The Me You Can’t See.

He also lashed out at his father Charles’s parenting in the series and during an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast.

Harry’s attacks came in the wake of his and Meghan Markle’s controversial Oprah Winfrey interview, which saw them make a set of explosive claims about the royals.
