Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are walking a “tricky tightrope” to “protect” their children, royal commentators have claimed. The Duke of Cambridge is said to be “absolutely adamant” about what he will and will not “allow” for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. Channel 5 documentary, ‘Kate: Our Queen in Waiting’, explored the future king and queen’s “clever” approach to tackling this issue.
Narrator David Riley told viewers: “For royals, often one of the biggest challenges can be handling the press.
“Kate has successfully walked the tricky tightrope of protecting her private life whilst still acting as a future Queen.
“And giving the press and the public a sufficient glimpse of her family life.”
Mail on Sunday Royal Editor Emily Andrews compared this to how Prince William and Prince Harry were brought up.

She said: “Photographers and journalists were given a huge amount of access to William and Harry.
“Both men have talked about how they found that press intrusion very difficult.
“So when [William] had his own children, he was absolutely adamant he was not going to allow anything like the level of that access to his family.
“The kind that had been allowed to him and Harry.”
The Duchess’ passion for photography has been utilised as a balancing tool.
Kate’s own pictures of their family are released to the wider public and press on special occasions.
This includes birthdays, anniversaries and deaths.
Ms Andrews described the method as “PR gold”.
She also claimed it was a “new, relatable form of royalty”.
