Elsa Pataky spent weeks training at the gym ahead of filming her new Netflix movie Interceptor.

And the 44-year-old’s newfound strength came in handy on Monday as she carried one of her twin sons, seven, while heading out for lunch with her mother Cristina in Byron Bay.

Elsa’s son, who sported a conspicuous cast on his arm, gripped his mother’s torso as his movie-star mother checked her mobile phone while strolling towards a local takeaway eatery.

After purchasing their meals, Elsa and Christina carried their take-away boxes to a local park, while Elsa’s son walked barefoot behind them.

Dressing down for the off-duty occasion, Elsa wore a white knit jumper emblazoned with a skull print and a pair of grey jeans.

She went makeup-free and completed her look with sunglasses and a pair of animal-print sneakers.

The outing comes after Elsa gushed about her mother in an interview with Marie Claire Australia.

Elsa said her Romanian-born matriarch married young, before relocating to Spain to be with her husband.

She said the marriage didn’t last though and her mother soon had to pick up the pieces of her life.
