The europhile French President has made no secret of his ambitions to turn Paris into the “leading financial centre” in Europe. And with the Delta variant spreading across the UK, the banker-turned politician is launching his campaign in earnest.
He has invited JP Morgan chief Jamie Dimon and Goldman Sachs boss David Solomon to a “Choose France” event at the Palace of Versailles on 28 June, where the President will try to make the case for investment in France.
He will highlight the UK’s strict Covid travel policy in his bid to steal London’s financial services, according to the Sunday Telegraph.
Major players in the City of London are said to be furious at the UK’s Covid travel rules.
Currently, people who have had two jabs are not allowed to travel to amber list countries without quarantining on their return to the UK.

But there is no timeframe for a deal on travel access to be agreed – frustrating banking chiefs.
Meanwhile, people who have been fully vaccinated can travel from France and other EU nations to the US without having to take tests or quarantine.
