Dramatic photos show firefighters battling huge flames amid rising plumes of smoke at Asmall Primary School in Ormskirk. The alarm was raised at around 7.30pm. Lancashire Fire and Rescue said a helicopter has been deployed to assist with efforts in putting out the flames. It said the fire have engulfed three rooms in the school.
The service said: “Six fire crews (including some from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service) are tackling a fire at a commercial premises on Tennyson Drive in Ormskirk.
“The building was well alight when firefighter arrived at the scene and crews are working using breathing apparatus and hose reels to bring the fire under control.
“The fire involved three rooms within the building and firefighters are bringing it under control using breathing apparatus and three main jets.
“Tactical support is now also being provided by the Lancashire aerial support unit.”
