Princess Anne will leave for another overseas trip within a few weeks just days after her return from a packed visit to Uganda. On November 17, the Princess Royal will head to the Falkland Islands for a five-day visit to the territory.

Government House, the office of the archipelago’s governor Alison Blake CMG, announced on Monday: “Her Excellency the Governor Alison Blake CMG is delighted to announce that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will visit the Falkland Islands from 17 to 22 November 2022.

“Her Royal Highness, who last visited the Falklands in 2016, will be accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.”

In June, while attending a special ceremony paying tribute to the veterans and those who lost their lives in the Falklands War 40 years ago, the Princess Royal expressed her wish to visit the city of Port Stanley, after the capital of the Falkland Islands was awarded city status by the Queen on her Jubilee year.

Anne have already visited the Falklands in the past, including in 2009 and, as noted by the statement, in 2016.

Among the engagements she carried out during her last stay in Stanley, Anne visited the Dockyard, the Falklands Museum, the Conservation Watch Group, and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital Day Centre.

Anne’s return to the UK from the Falklands later this month may be just as hectic as her trip, as she will arrive in the midst of the state visit to the UK of South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Mr Ramaphosa and his wife Dr Tshepo Motsepe’s trip will last between November 22 and 24 and will likely include a state banquet hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

This announced trip comes after the Princess Royal’s return from Uganda, where she stayed between October 25 to 28.

Accompanied on this occasion too by her husband Sir Timothy, a retired Navy officer, the royal paid visits to several organisations she supports.

Among them was the Ugandan Research Unit part of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine – of which Anne is the Chancellor.

As the patron of Opportunity International UK – which provides people living in poverty with loans, financial training and savings to emerge from their difficult conditions – the late Queen’s only daughter opened Opportunity Bank Uganda Nakivale Branch at the Nakivale Refugee Settlement UNHCR Base Camp.

Anne, sporting a beige vest and matching hat, also met members of the Wenzetu Women’s Group to hear how her patronage was assisting them in support of people with disabilities.

Among other engagements, the Princess Royal also headed to the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement to hear how the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo impacts children’s lives and how one of her most famous patronages, Save the Children, is supporting them.

    DON’T MISS

On her last day in the African country, Princess Anne met members of her patronage Sense International, which supports deaf and blind children.

This meeting also gave the royal the chance to pay her respects to the children who died in a fire at a school, supported by Sense International, she was meant to visit.

Reacting to the news of the fire, the Princess Royal said in a statement: “I was shocked to hear the news of the tragic loss of life.

“The work of Sense International across many countries is hugely appreciated, working with such a vulnerable group of children. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and staff.”

Before leaving the country, Anne paid a visit to the ‘Safe Way Right Way Driver’ Training Centre to learn about Transaid projects in Uganda focused on influencing safe driver behaviour.
