'You're not answering!' Laura Kuenssberg clashes with Yvette Cooper over migration targets

Laura Kuenssberg confronted Yvette Cooper on whether the Labour Party wants to see immigration numbers go up or down compared to the 240,000 migrants who arrived last year. But the Shadow Home Secretary dodged the question. While Ms Cooper was making her case for the best immigration system, the BBC presenter was forced to interrupt her as she was running out of time.

The BBC presenter said: “We’re very short of time” before adding: “You’re not answering!”

But the Shadow Home Secretary  dodged the question, saying: “So, we have a points-based system. The whole point of a points-based system ought to be that actually you look at it area by area rather than having net migration targets.

“We [Labour] don’t fully know what’s going on in it.

“It looks as though Suella Braverman is trying to return to the failed net migration.”
